Erosion Control

Have you noticed soil washing away on the steeper portions of your landscape this year? If so, here are a few ways that we can help to keep soil in its place during the next growing season:
Baffles can be constructed from small pieces of plastic edging. When partly buried across a minor hillside, they can significantly slow water run-off.
Retaining cloths made from porous burlap or mesh work well where erosion is more severe. Plantings can easily grow through holes cut in the cloths.
Mulch will slow water run-off on minor slopes while preventing weed growth.
Small stones or rubble can be used on steeper hillsides to decrease water run-off while acting as a permanent form of mulch.
